Winners announced for Spruce and Samuell High School Mayor's Summer Reading Program Prize Giveaway!

Congratulations to Jose I. of Samuell High School and Douglas B. of Spruce High School, winners of the Mayor's Summer Reading Program Prize Giveaway at Pleasant Grove Branch Library!

The lucky winners were selected from a random drawing of students who pre-registered for the 2010 Mayor's Summer Reading Program, and each will receive a prize bag filled with goodies:

Mayor's Summer Reading Program Kickoff-May 29th

Join us at Pleasant Grove Branch Library on May 29th for the kickoff celebration of the 2010 Mayor's Summer Reading Program (MSRP). Registration begins at 10am, with the celebration party beginning at 3pm. The guest performer will be renowned Flamenco dancer Daniel de Cordoba.

"Anime, Manga and More" Teen Club

The Pleasant Grove Branch Library kicked off its newest teen club, "Anime, Manga and More" with a showing of "Case Closed: The Phantom of Baker Street" on April 24th.

Join us the third Saturday of each month for a new anime movie. The next showing is Saturday, May 15th at 4:00pm, and will be "Fruits Basket: What Becomes of Snow?" Chapter 7. There will be free popcorn for snacking.

Also, join us the first Friday of each month for "Manga Madness" book club. Come discuss your favorite manga books with other teens and check out our newest titles. Our next meeting will be Friday, June 4th from 2:30pm-3:30pm. Snacks will be provided.

Stay tuned for future events, including board game fests, Wii gaming, and Yu-Gi-Oh! competitions.

Winner Announced for "Queen for a Day" Mother's Day Basket

Congratulations to Miranda and mom Karla, winners of the Pleasant Grove Branch Library's "Queen for a Day" Mother's Day Basket contest.

Contestants were entered into the prize drawing by writing poems to their mothers. The lucky winner, Miranda, won a basket filled with goodies sure to please both mom and daughter: a tiara, sceptre and necklace set, candies, toys and a journal, all topped off with a red rose.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration!

The Cinco de Mayo celebration was phenomenal!  Pleasant Grove Branch Library participated in the parade on Buckner and the festival on May 1st. Holiday Arts & Crafts were featured at the library.  The staff made beautiful flowers and festively decorated the library!  This was a very memorable Cinco de Mayo.
